I made a website for no good reason
I’ve always wanted a website. I don’t know why really, just sort of seemed like a neat place to express one’s self. A realm without the restrictions that typical social media websites impose. A place that encompasses all things ME! .. but who is me? I? you mean that guy in my head that never shuts up, or the one who, like, walks around and stuff?
guy who walks around and stuff 🚶➡️🚘
I don’t want a website, I know why very clearly. A realm of my own, stranded in the middle of the no-web where no human dare find me. Only robots that scrape my data beyond the .txt in which they ignore with that dumb smug robot grin. A place that encompasses ALL THINGS me. This isn’t the place to express yourself buddy. The internet is not what it used to be, a soon to be wasteland of AI saturation across websites, social media profiles, Youtube videos, and more. Go live a real life in the real world. I hear that place is hip, and in-style again. Why even have a website anyways? I don’t have a desire to build a following of some kind, I don’t have a product to sell, so why would I do this? If it’s really just self-expression and community, then be with those around you, whether that be irl or Discord or something. I mean, why share with the “world” (tumbleweed blows by) anyways? Being a part of a local community is where it’s at.
guy in head that is loud
I’ve temporarily justified to myself getting, and paying for a website to learn basic html and css. I was interested in how websites were made along with understanding the structure / architecture of html on webpages a bit better. I say that, but I really just want to play around with css and make a pretty website, so that life long dream can be quenched.
Oh! Also I got really into the idea of Bluesky social media back in mid November. Over their, for now atleast, they use website domains as a way to verify yourself rather than a blue checkmark. For instance you would know that you are looking at the official Burger King profile if they had the handle @burgerking.com. This sounded like such an awesome concept to me initially because doesn’t that also kind of create a separation between AI and real human beans on the internet?? I see a lot of probable flawes in this logic, but it gives me hope for an internet that is still useable. With these thoughts in mind, I made my own Bsky handle @bigtvroom.com.
what’s to come
Probably nothing, but maybe while I have it, I might as well try creating some blog posts about my interests. I used to be super into ObsidianMD, but that’s tapered off and I’ve found my groove with it in a way that is really simple, along with writing some notes on physical paper. I’ve been scanning VHS tapes into a NAS because I like the process of recording it, and the charm it has. No topic that is particularly ultra interesting, but I feel like my perspective, and how I can connect them to other things I like is sort of neat.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day (another tumbleweed rolls by).
